Well, I am back home.
Friday night was spent with several friends in my room. We talked till late evening. I packed up and worked on the blog then went to bed.
I thought Erik was leaving at 5AM so when I woke up at 5 and saw Erik still in bed I panicked and woke him up from his deep slumber. He woke up..looked at me..I leave at 7!! My bad.
At the usual time I woke up, finished packing and went for my final meal at Bethel. I met some of the friends I had made, said goodbyes and went back to my room to check out. Went downstairs to the departure area, there were brothers there already, all waiting for their ride to the airport. We talked, laughed, told war stories promised to keep in touch and that one day we would get together again (class reunion?).
Finally it was my turn to leave, Rick, Greg, Jim and I loaded up our luggage and departed. Jim and Greg were the ones we rode in with when we were picked up last Saturday, it was only fitting that we would leave together.
At the airport, we met a brother from Wisconsin, who had been working at Brooklyn doing temp work. Our flight was delayed but after a 2 hr wait we all left for Detroit. From Detroit we parted ways, another sad goodbye to good friends.
At Detroit, we made a mistake, we walked all the way to gate B6, we were at A67, we did not bother to check to see if our gate had been changed. We got there, after a long, long walk and found that our flight had been changed to A66. We had to walk back and barely got to the plane in time. We actually had to run.
At Memphis, our pland had engine problems prior to take off. The pilot decided to change planes, another delay. But..we do want an airplane with TWO engines. Basic aviation theory.
We changed planes and departed for McAllen. The rest of the trip was uneventful, we got in about 11:10, wife picked me up and we drove home. I crashed.
Today, I did not go the meeting, I was very a tired from the trip. I slept late and made time to reacquainted myself to my wife. :)
There are no pictures today, I will post them tomorrow, just been too tired. But, I am home, happy and somewhat rested.
