First English Assembly!

This is a picture of a levee that is filling up with water that has been released from the Rio Grande River. We have had flooding in some counties. Some of our friends have had to move out of their homes as the waters may flood them out. What is a levee? A levee is a very long (miles) elongated water retention pond. When it is not used for water relief it is farmed. No one can build any structures in the levees. The last time the levees were this full was over twenty years ago.
These levees are located between La Feria and my home.
Assembly is over, overseers and their assistants have to stay till the last to make sure all things are fine.
Full crowd..over 2900 on Sunday, baptized..56.
Another view.

Temporary chairs...we have 2500 permanent chairs, 500 temporary chairs can be brought in.
Audio/Visual room.
News service.
Parking lot assistant overseer. These guys have a hard job, standing out in the hot sun directing traffic.

Well, our first district convention is over. As I walk through the halls and auditorium I can imagine walking through the same areas when it was under construction. What a difference! We will have our circuit, special day and district conventions here. What a difference and blessing it is to have an assembly hall as compared to the rental places that we have had to use in the past.

I have to give kudos to Reggie, the overseer of the cleaning department. As you sisters know, there are NEVER enough bathrooms for the sisters. When there is a song we are aware of the line that forms at the bathrooms. The assembly hall has ALOT of bathrooms for the women..but, a line still forms. There are many stalls but sometimes you cannot tell if they are occupied. Reggie put three sisters in the bathrooms during "rush hour", their duty, to let the sisters know which stalls were available. It worked. There were lines but they moved fast.

We men had plenty of room. :)

More later!
